Others want to give their children a better start in life than they felt they had. A question then arises about the repetition of painful experiences from a parent’s past in the relationship with the baby. Sometimes a parent, unconsciously and against all their conscious intentions, inflicts disturbing experiences similar to their own on the child of the next generation.
